RISK WARNINGS

Important Disclaimer
CRAPSEE IS A SIMULATION AND EDUCATIONAL PLATFORM ONLY. NO REAL MONEY IS WAGERED, WON, OR LOST. ALL IN-GAME CURRENCY IS FICTIONAL AND HAS NO REAL-WORLD VALUE.
This page provides important risk warnings and educational information about the nature of casino gaming. We believe informed users make better decisions, and we want every Crapsee user to understand the mathematical realities of casino craps before ever stepping foot in a real casino.
The Mathematical Reality: House Edge
Every casino game is designed so that the casino (the "house") has a mathematical advantage over the player. This is known as the house edge. In craps, the house edge varies by bet type:
- Pass Line: 1.41% house edge – One of the best bets on the table
- Don't Pass: 1.36% house edge – Slightly better odds
- Place 6 or Place 8: 1.52% house edge
- Field Bet: 2.78% to 5.56% house edge (depending on casino rules)
- Any 7: 16.67% house edge – One of the worst bets
- Hardways: 9.09% to 11.11% house edge
- Proposition bets: Up to 16.67% house edge
What this means: Over time, the house edge guarantees that the casino will profit. While individual sessions can produce wins, the mathematical expectation over thousands of bets is always negative for the player. No strategy, system, or betting pattern can overcome the house edge in the long run.
Practice Does Not Equal Real-World Success
PRACTICE OR SUCCESS AT SIMULATED GAMING ON CRAPSEE DOES NOT IMPLY, PREDICT, OR GUARANTEE FUTURE SUCCESS AT REAL-MONEY GAMBLING.
There are critical differences between Crapsee's simulation and real casino environments:
- No financial pressure: Playing with fictional currency eliminates the emotional and psychological pressure of real money at risk, which significantly affects decision-making
- No real consequences: Losses on Crapsee carry no financial consequence. In a real casino, losses are permanent and can cause serious financial hardship
- Different psychology: The absence of real financial risk changes how you bet, how you react to losses, and how long you play. Strategies that feel comfortable in simulation may feel very different with real money
- Variance and luck: Short-term results (in simulation or real life) are heavily influenced by random variance. A winning streak on Crapsee does not indicate skill or predict future results
- Casino environment: Real casinos are designed to encourage continued play through atmosphere, complimentary offerings, and social pressure. These factors are absent in simulation
Financial Risk Warnings
If you choose to gamble with real money (outside of Crapsee), be aware of the following:
- You will likely lose money over time. The house edge is a mathematical certainty. While short-term wins are possible, the longer you play, the more likely your results will converge toward the expected mathematical loss.
- Never gamble with money you cannot afford to lose. Gambling should only be done with discretionary entertainment funds, never with money needed for rent, bills, food, or other essential expenses.
- Set strict limits before you start. Decide on a loss limit and a time limit before entering a casino, and walk away when either limit is reached.
- No system beats the house. Betting systems (Martingale, Fibonacci, Oscar's Grind, etc.) do not change the underlying mathematics. They may change the distribution of wins and losses, but they cannot create a positive expectation from a negative-expectation game.
- Past results do not predict future outcomes. Dice have no memory. Each roll is independent. A number being "due" is a fallacy.
Understanding Variance
Short-term results in craps (and all casino games) are driven by variance, or the natural fluctuation of outcomes around the mathematical expectation. This means:
- You can win significantly in a single session, even though the game has a negative expectation
- You can also lose far more than the house edge would suggest in a single session
- Winning streaks and losing streaks are both normal and expected parts of random outcomes
- The more you play, the closer your actual results will approach the mathematical expectation (which favors the house)
Crapsee's simulation helps illustrate these concepts, but understanding them intellectually is different from experiencing them with real money at stake.
Addiction Risk
Gambling can be addictive. Even simulated gambling can develop patterns and habits that carry over to real-world gambling behavior. Risk factors include:
- Personal or family history of addiction
- Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, or ADHD
- High stress levels or using gambling as an escape mechanism
- Early exposure to gambling or gambling-like activities
- Social isolation or loneliness
- Belief in gambling "systems" or the ability to beat the odds
If you recognize any of these risk factors in yourself, please exercise extra caution and consider the support resources on our Responsible Gaming page.
